PM Modi has released the 18th installment of the PM Kisan Yojana, with over ₹20,000 crore credited to farmers' accounts. On Saturday, more than 9.4 crore farmers benefited through direct benefit transfer (DBT). The 18th installment was launched from Washim, Maharashtra. Today, PM Modi will announce the 18th installment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, with a significant gift for farmers in Maharashtra. Approximately 2.5 crore farmers across the country will join the event via webcasting. With the release of the PM Kisan 18th installment, the total distribution under this scheme will exceed ₹3.45 lakh crore. On October 5, PM Narendra Modi will launch the 18th installment of the PM Kisan scheme in a ceremony in Washim district, Maharashtra. The district administration reported that over 9.4 crore farmers nationwide will receive assistance of ₹20,000 crore through direct benefit transfer. The administration stated, "Around 2.5 crore farmers will participate in this event via webcasting, including 732 KVKs (Krishi Vigyan Kendras), over one lakh primary agricultural cooperatives, and five lakh common service centers." The release further mentioned, "With the PM Kisan 18th installment being issued, the total distribution under the scheme will surpass ₹3.45 lakh crore, supporting over 11 crore farmers. This reaffirms the government's commitment to rural development and agricultural prosperity." What Will Maharashtra Farmers Receive in the New Installment? So far, Maharashtra has received around ₹32,000 crore for 1.20 crore farmers across 17 installments. The state ranks second in terms of the number of beneficiaries under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. The district administration announced that nearly 91.51 lakh farmers in Maharashtra will benefit from over ₹1,900 crore in the 18th installment. Additionally, under the PM Namoh Kisan Mahasamman Nidhi scheme’s fifth installment, Maharashtra’s farmers will also receive about ₹2,000 crore in extra benefits. The release stated that 7,516 completed projects under the PM Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) will also be dedicated to the nation. What is Kissan Samman Nidhi? The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi is a centrally funded scheme by the Government of India, launched in December 2018. Over the past six years, this scheme has provided income support of ₹6,000 per year to all landholding farmer families in three equal installments. A family under this scheme includes a husband, wife, and minor children. State governments and union territory administrations identify eligible farmer families according to the scheme's guidelines. The funds are then directly transferred to the beneficiaries' bank accounts. Before today, 17 installments have already been released under this scheme.
